SÓL HANSDÓTTIR IS A ANTI-DISCIPLINARY ICELANDIC FASHION DESIGNER WORKING BETWEEN REYKJAVÍK AND LONDON. Her CENTRAL SAINT MARTINS graduate collection “Three Theories of Evil” was awarded with the L’Oréal creative award. This celebrated first collection planted the seeds of Hansdóttir’s unique creative process.
Sól’s work evolves around questioning the systems of control. Theory, method & experimentally led practice to advocate for authentic pieces for evil folk in modern times. Continuous fascination with man-made systems of authority and a romantic belief in nature as a creative force. The natural system is the only true concept; The ultimate system of control.
Adaptation of the weird or the eccentric self-fashioning, the spontaneous experimenting & the chaoticly ferocious documentation of the practice results in sculptural & abstract yet familiar garment pieces. Sól uses local resources, up-cycling materials & using deadstock fabrics.
ALL PIECES ARE MADE BY HAND IN HER STUDIO.
